Dave Hirschkop is the founder and visionary behind Dave’s Gourmet. Dave created products that reflect his love of delicious food, wholesome ingredients, and innovative ideas. Dave grew up in Virginia and when he reached adulthood he opened up a somewhat offbeat taqueria in Maryland called burrito Madness. In what he says was an attempt to control unruly drunk patrons, he crated what was called the hottest hot sauce in the universe. Dave’s plan backfired as his incredibly spicy hot sauce ended up bringing people in the restaurant in droves. This hot sauce is incredibly hot and spicy yet full of complex flavor. This sauce was so hot and spicy that it ended up being banned from the National Fiery Food Show.
Dave left his taqueria in Maryland and moved to San Francisco where Dave’s Gourmet began to expand into other specialty food categories. One day Dave was looking at the deep sea of red in the pasta sauce aisle of the local supermarket and he suddenly became determined to create the best tasting, most innovative pasta sauce using the best tasting, highest quality ingredients he could find. He created a line of sauces including Butternut Squash, Organic Red Heirloom, Wild Mushroom, and Golden Heirloom Tomato Pasta Sauces, which have won over seventeen outstanding specialty foods awards. Dave has also gone on to author multiple books and cook books and has made appearances on television including the Food Network.
